Asthma:

When a person with asthma comes into contact with something that irritates their airways (an asthma trigger), the muscles around the walls of the airways tighten so that the airways become narrower and the lining of the airways becomes inflamed and starts to swell. Sometimes, sticky mucus or phlegm builds up, which can further narrow the airways. Asthma can be bad in most endurance sports like running and football because it makes you not get as much air as you would need to keep going. So people with asthma normally go for sprint sports like sprint cycling or running.

The symptoms of asthma include:

  • feeling breathless you may gasp for breath
  • a tight chest, like a band tightening around it
  • wheezing, which makes a whistling sound when you breathe
  • Coughing, particularly at night and early morning
  • attacks triggered by exercise exposure to allergens and other triggers.

Heart Attack:

Heart Attacks occur when the blood vessels that supply the heart with blood become blocked. This can be caused by a build up of cholesterol, which makes it difficult for the blood to pass through. Syptoms of a heart attack often include chest pain, sweating and shortness of breath.

Heart attacks can be very bad in any sport but more on football. Recently a football player playing for bolton wanderers had a cardiac arrest on the football pitch. He had to get rushed to hospital and was said that he was not breathing for 5 minutes. This could happen to anyone with risks of heart attack so this insodent could happen to anyone this is why you have to have regular checks with your doctor so you stay clear of this.
