Intrinsic Injuries-

There are many different types of factors that can cause sports performers to become injured.Theses factors are often catergorized into two different types: intrinsic factors also known as personal factors are directly related to the performer. Extrinsic factors relate to the surroundingds of the performer.

Intrinsic injuries can be caused by sports performers overusing their bodies during training or in competition. Overuse happens when a player put pressure on himself this will cause them increase the duration of training.

The itensity is important for the activity suitable for the athletes chosen sport.

Ensuring that the intensity of the activity being undertaken is suitable for the athlete is vital in preventing injury. A performer should make sure that the intensity of their training sessions increases slowly, loading the body according to the pressure it can handle. However injuries can occur if an athlete overloads their body and puts it under intensepressure.Performers are likely to overload when they come back to sport after a break.

It is important for sports performers to have good alignment because if you have poor alignmentcan can put a strain on the bodyand can lead to instrincic injuries. If an athlete has poor balance they may put more weight on one foot than they do on the other causeing dicomfort and eventually injury. I t is important athletes keep a straight back to avoid injuries.

Extrinsic Injuries-

These injuries are caused by external factors and not by the performer. An example is it may occur when the performer has force acting on them or maybe on a piece of equipment if it comes into contact with you. The impact may give you a bone break of fracture.

To prevent these injuries you would need to:

Adhering to the rules. Some rules are designed to prevent injurys from occuring so abide by them.

Use the correct equipment. Equipment is especially designed so that performers will not get injured by them.

Make sure risk assessments are carried out. These are to prevent the equipment being un useable and dangerous. Also it is to assess the potencial hazerds in the place were you are doing the activity.
